White Pottery is all the rage!

IMG_1349I have been hard at work, restocking the White Speckled glaze on Red Stoneware Pottery. These farm style, angled glaze pottery mugs are in the Fern Street Pottery shop and will be coming with me to West Elm, Seattle for my Pop-up show on 4/15/18. Come visit me there! I call this style the Northwest Mug, as it is designed to keep your coffee or tea warm for a longer period of time- perfect for our long northwest winters! Handcrafted in Indianola, Washington, with your home decor and happiness in mind. Coffee tastes better in a handmade mug! P.S. this is stoneware! No terra cotta here.

Hamsa wall hangings, protection from the Evil Eye. Old fashioned insurance policy.

Hamsas in Tangerine, deep brick red, bright chartreuse, celadon green, turquoise green

Carved Hamsas in Celadon, light blue, purple, rose.

Hamsa wall hangings are traditionally  hung at your front door, in your entry way, in your living space, or over the a child’s bed; where ever you want protection from the evil eye. The Hamsa is a protective symbol found in many cultures. In Judaism it is called a Hamsa or Hand of Miriam or the Five Fingered Hand of God, in islamic tradition it is called the Hand of Fatima, Christians refer to it as the Hand of Mary. In Turkey you will see blue glass eye amulets, which are an abbreviated version of this icon of protection from the evil eye. One of the things I love about the protective hand is that it is found in so many cultural and religious traditions.
